  • Thursdays: 15 classes

A structured, coach-led class that keeps young children active, engaged, and learning new skills at the end of the school day.

This engaging after-school class offers Maternelle students a dedicated time for guided physical activity in a fun and supportive environment. Children are introduced to the fundamentals of golf, pickleball, volleyball, and lacrosse while building coordination, confidence, and a love of movement.

Each session is thoughtfully designed for young learners, with 3 to 4 short activity stations lasting 10 to 15 minutes to match their attention span and keep them actively engaged. Students rotate through skills such as golf driving, chipping, and putting, pickleball forehands and backhands, volleyball setting and bumping, and lacrosse shooting. This allows them to explore multiple sports in every class while keeping activities fresh and engaging.

Activities are intentionally sequenced to balance energy, focus, and skill development. Students stay active while also learning to listen, take turns, and participate in a structured group setting.

Our coaches are specifically trained to work with this age group and focus on both athletic development and important social skills such as taking turns, listening, and waiting patiently. All equipment is provided and carefully selected to be safe and developmentally appropriate.

Why Golf?

Golf is a lifelong sport that enhances hand-eye coordination, motor skills, and focus.

It’s especially great for helping quieter kids gain confidence and assisting active kids in improving concentration.

Our progressive curriculum introduces golf fundamentals in a structured yet fun way starting with Setup and Chipping with Pitching Wedges and introducing Drivers as soon as Week 3 with the goal of at least class each session dedicated to Putting.

Why Lacrosse?

The oldest team sport in North America and one of the fastest-growing youth sports.

Our USA Lacrosse-certified curriculum director has coached youth teams at one of Oregon’s largest youth lacrosse programs and has designed a program that introduces shooting, passing, and catching using youth lacrosse sticks and hacky sacks for a fun, safe introduction to the sport.

Why Volleyball?

The #1 high school and college team sport for girls and the fastest growing sport for boys.

Most kids don’t receive proper volleyball instruction until 12U club volleyball, usually in 5th grade

Our US Volleyball-certified curriculum director (former NCAA Division I volleyball player & elite club coach) has designed a program that introduces overhead setting, forearm passing, serving, and spiking using lightweight Molten “First Touch” volleyballs (only 5 ounces) to ensure fun and safety.

Why Pickleball?

A fast-growing, easy-to-learn sport that kids can enjoy from day one.

A fun introduction to court-based sports without needing a full net or court.

Why Schoolyard Sports?

Convenient after school programs offered at school, right when kids are ready to play

Safe, structured, and fun learning with trained, background-checked coaches

Give your child the chance to explore multiple sports, develop new skills, and have fun after school!
